Acoustic Guitars

Acoustic guitars are awesome. You can take them anywhere without worrying about power. You can play them around the campfire, at the beach, at the BBQ or at family gatherings. Pretty much everybody loves the sound of an acoustic guitar.

Unfortunately, finding a quality acoustic guitar at a good price can be a difficult thing. Acoustic guitars are much more difficult to construct than electric guitars and as a result there is quite a lot of poor quality inexpensive instruments.

Having a poor quality instrment is bad, as it makes learning the guitar a much harder process. With a good instrument, you are rewarded with nice sounds when you play with good technique and you get some pretty negative feedback when you don’t. So, having a well made instrument actually makes you a better player sooner. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to have an expensive instrument, just one that’s good quality.

Electric Guitars

Love the sound of the electric guitar? There’s no reason that you can’t start learning on one. There’s lots of fairytails about learning on an acoustic guitar being better for you, but frankly they are not true.

Concerned that the electric guitar is going to be too loud? Electric guitars can actually be much quieter than acoustic guitars, you simply have to turn the amplifier down, or off. Even better, you can simply plug headphones into the amplifier and keep your playing completely to yourself.

The electric guitar is extremely versatile, being able to play everything from Rock, Pop, Reggae, Funk, Jazz, Ska, Metal and more. You’ll need a great amplifier as well, so please check out out amplifiers section, as having a nice sounding amplifier is just as important as having a quality guitar.
